Good grief, I’ve just logged onto my website for the first time in what feels like forever, and the reason it feels like forever is because it is! I haven’t written a blog post since January. That’s dreadful!
I like to think my excuse of working hard is a reasonable one; the first couple of months of the year were spent renovating our bike shed, and stripping and rebuilding 18 bikes. Literally right down to the frame. Whilst Owain is an extremely competent bike mechanic, I’m still learning so it all took a lot longer than we ever thought it would. Before we knew it, the early Easter weekend arrived, and that was it. We’ve been working 7 days a week ever since.
In between work, I’ve trained for a half marathon (more on that in another post), I’ve become a qualified Level 2 Gym Instructor (more on that in yet another post) and I’ve been putting my Project Manager qualifications to use in trying to obtain funding to build a gym (I’ll include that in the post on the Gym Instructor qualification!)
Oh, and we bought a boat! (Yet another blog post.)
All in all, life has been busy. It was a bit of a shocker to realise we’re now in August and in less than two weeks time, it’ll be a year since we moved to Eigg! Can you believe it?! I can’t.
It’s been an amazing year though; business has been exciting and brilliant and a little scary at times but we’re absolutely loving Eigg Adventures and it’s exceeding all our expectations that we so carefully researched and prepared in our business plan.
This year we’ve had many family and friends visit us, and many more are coming up before the end of the year. It’s lovely to see how many have travelled the 500+ miles to visit; it’s not just the travelling time, it’s the complete faff involved with having to get a ferry and as such, there’s a required overnight stop each way. We’re very grateful to everyone who’s been up to see us, and to those heading up – we’re looking forward to seeing you too!
So, that’s a very short summary of why I’ve been MIA, and now I’ve done the big step of actually getting onto my blog, I’ll get writing all those posts I’ve mentioned above, and tell you in a bit more detail exactly what’s been going on, on this small rock off the west coast of Scotland!
I’ll be back soon!
